Ovarian Failure

Premature Ovarian Failure occurs in 1% of the female population. It is defined as the absence of menstrual cycles for 1 year or more before the age of forty not due to other problems with ovulation. It can occur in women due to abnormal genes (genetic causes), chromosomal abnormalities, surgery resulting in damage to the ovary or its blood supply, endometriosis and treatments for cancer such as radiation or chemotherapy. Women who wish to get pregnant should consult us to review their reproductive options.
